Use the A.S.P.I.R.E. method to boost your study habits. By doing so, you will see immediate improvement in your retention, and, ultimately, your GPA.

A. Approach/attitude/arrange

Approach studying with a positive attitude
Arrange your schedule to eliminate distractions.

S. Select/survey/study

Select a manageable amount of material to study
Survey the headings, graphics, and questions to get an overview
Study and mark any information you don't understand

P: Put aside/piece together

Put aside your books and notes
Piece together what you studied and summarize what you understand

I: Inspect/investigate/inquire

Inspect what you did not understand
Investigate alternative sources of information you can refer to, such as text books, websites, experts, tutors, etc.
Inquire from support professionals (librarians, teachers, tutors) for assistance

R: Reconsider/reflect/relay

Reconsider the content. Ask yourself, "If I could speak to the author, what questions would I ask?"
Reflect on the material. Ask, "How can I apply this material to my interest?"
Relay understanding. Ask, "How can I make this information interesting and easy to understand for other students?"

E: Evaluate/examine/explore

Evaluate your grades. See if you can find a pattern.
