Epilepsy Foundation Western/Central Pennsylvania Scholarship Program
Purpose: To assist an individual who has epilepsy with his/her academic and/or vocational training
Minimum Applicant Qualifications:

Have a diagnosis of epilepsy/seizure disorder; this must be confirmed by a statement from the applicant's physician

Provide proof of acceptance to a post-secondary academic or vocational program.
·
Be a high school graduate of the class of 2013.
·
Attend school full-time in the 2013-2014 school year.

Scholarship contest, with the grand prize being a $5,000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior in western Pennsylvania. We also will choose three 2nd place winners, who will each receive $2,500; and three runners-up, who will each receive $1,000. Over the past six years, we '
ve awarded 56 scholarships, totaling $70,500, to high school seniors for their projects.

Any high school senior who plans to attend a four-year college or university is encouraged to participate. To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must return the following items to our office by March 29, 2013:

This scholarship is eligible for the following:
- Attend high school at/in: Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Washington, or Westmoreland County
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Use scholarship at: 2 or 4 year college or tech school.
- Preference will be given to black African students born in Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal-Gambia, Zaire, Kenya or Cameroon, or African American students.
- Complete an application.
- Maintain a GPA of : 2.50
- Write and submit an essay: A 300 word essay setting forth the factors that have contributed to both your successes and failures in life, mentoring any specific individual(s) who has provided you with a positive role model. Include your vision of the goals toward which you would like to strive upon the completion of your formal education.

Higher Education Scholarship Awards
The Community Foundation of Fayette County offers a variety of educational awards ranging from $100 - $1500. These awards are available to graduating high school seniors, students already enrolled in a college, university or business school and non-traditional students. Awards cover a wide range of designations and interests, but applicants must be Fayette County residents to apply.
To be considered for an educational award, applicants must submit the Community Foundation's standardized
2013 Scholarship Application Form
, along with supporting documents as stated on the application. Applications are accepted from January 1 to April 1, but applications must be post-marked by April 1, to be considered. Selection is based on a variety of factors including academic promise and financial need. However, some scholarships do not require financial need as part of their criteria.The Educational Awards Committee makes recommendations from the applicant pool, and some awards are made directly through the high schools. Students are encouraged to visit their Guidance Offices to learn more about scholarship opportunities and the application process.

Betty Bayne Barnes Scholarship Fund for Women
Candidate must be a female resident of Fayette County, holding a GPA of 3.0 or higher, either planning to attend or attending a college or university.
Dr. Dennis F. Brestensky Scholarship Fund
Candidate must be a Fayette County resident attending or planning to attend Penn State University, Fayette - the Eberly Campus.
Candidate must have a 3.3 GPA or higher and demonstrate financial need.
Preference will be made to students pursuing a bachelor or arts degree.
Career and Technical Education Scholarship Fund
Candidate must be a Fayette County resident planning to attend a career or technical school.
CFFC Board of Directors Scholarship Fund
Candidate must be a Fayette County resident, successfully completed college freshman year with a GPA of 2.5 (in a cumulative 4.0 scale), and must show financial need.
Awards are limited to undergraduate students only.
Cupelli Family Scholarship
Candidate must be a Fayette County resident attending or planning to attend the University of Pittsburgh or West Virginia University as a full-time, degree seeking student.
Candidate must hold a 3.0 GPA based on a 4.0 scale or maintain at least a 3.0 GPA while making progress toward a degree at the University of Pittsburgh or at West Virginia University.
Lulu A. Dudley Scholarship Fund
Candidate must be a Fayette County resident, show academic promise and financial need.
Fayette County Community Service All Star Scholarship
Candidates must attend a Fayette County school and must have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to community service.
Applications are not accepted in the CFFC Office.
Students are nominated by their Guidance Counselor.
Beverly Fazio Advised Scholarship Fund
Candidate must be a Fayette County resident planning to attend a two or four year nursing school.
Candidate must have a 3.0 GPA.
Sergeant Eric Hull Scholarship
Candidate must be a Fayette County resident, planning to attend or attending culinary school or college.
George M. and Anna Hochheimer Scholarship
Candidate must be a Fayette County resident, show academic promise and financial need.
Alfred E. Jones & Anna B. Jones Scholarship
Candidate must be a Fayette County resident planning to attend or attending Penn State Fayette and majoring in nursing, or planning to attend any college and major in fine art.
Candidate must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
Raymond Malone Scholarship Fund
Candidate must be a Fayette County resident attending or planning to attend Penn State University and majoring in Agricultural Sciences.
Candidate must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
Dr. Denise M. Martin Scholarship Fund
Candidate must be a resident or an employee of the Albert Gallatin Area School District. The purpose of this fund is to assist qualifed women who are working toward degrees necessary to advance their careers in the field of education.

Carl S. Micarelli Memorial Scholarship Fund
Candidate must be a Fayette County student attending or planning to attend the following schools including, but not limited to, California University of PA, Carnegie Mellon University, Duquesne University, Indiana University of PA, University of Pittsburgh or West Virginia University.
Student must be majoring in music, music education or jazz studies with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
