PSSA Dates

This letter is to inform you of the upcoming PSSA testing dates for all third, fourth, and fifth grade students. The PSSA Science test will be administered to fourth grade only. Below are the listed days for each PSSA Assessment:

ELA PSSA– Monday, April 3rd – Thursday, April 6th 2017

Math PSSA – Monday, April 24th – Wednesday, April 26th 2017

Science PSSA (4th grade only)–Monday, May 1 – Tuesday, May 2 2017

All assessments will be administered in the morning. All third, fourth, and fifth grade students are required, by the state, to take these exams. Attendance throughout the duration of each test is of the utmost importance. It is very difficult for children to make-up these tests.

Please make sure your child goes to bed early and is well-rested. Also, please ensure that your child is reporting to school each day and on time. Furthermore, please encourage your child to eat breakfast at school, if not eating breakfast at home.

Your cooperation and support, concerning this matter, are greatly appreciated.

Educationally yours,

Mrs. Baker

Device Usage and PA State Assessments (PSSA)

The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) takes extensive measures to ensure the security and validity of state assessment materials. If a student is caught photographing, copying or sharing any portion of the material contained on a PSSA or Keystone Exam, fines could result in up to $30,000 for a single violation.

The possession of cell phones, Apple watches, cameras, E-readers, Nooks, Kindles, iPods, tablets and any devices that have the capability to record or duplicate images is strictly prohibited during test administration. No recording device of any kind should be on the child when in the testing room. Test administrators are required to collect all such devices from students upon entry to a testing room and must store the devices securely until all test materials have been collected and returned to the school’s test coordinator.

All violations must be reported to PDE. Due to the extensive provision of prior notification on these test security rules, this type of violation constitutes a Level 3 offense in the Albert Gallatin Area School District—whether or not test material is compromised. Any student who is found to be in possession of a recording device during the administration of a state assessment faces a 4-10 day suspension due to insubordination, and fines will be presented to the offending student as dictated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Please assist us in making sure that all students understand the severity of the penalties involved.

School Reporting Times
Parents may Drop off Students at 8:00AM - Breakfast is served from 8:25 to 8:55AM
School day begins at 8 :55AM - Parent PickUp at 3:15PM - Bus Dismissal at 3:25PM

We, at A.L. Wilson Elementary, value student safety.

If a change in dismissal procedures for your child must occur, please send a note to school, with your child, in the morning detailing the dismissal procedures for that day.

If no note/phone call is received, students will follow their regular dismissal procedures.

Please also note, there is a change in parent pick-up procedures beginning the second week of school (week of September 5th). If you will be picking up your child two or more times per week from school, please write a note to the office so the appropriate paperwork can be sent home requesting a car tag. If you do not have a car tag, you will be required to park and enter the main office to dismiss your child.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep all of our students safe.
